Half-way Reflection



1)      Tenaciousness is a skill. What are the behaviors that you have used (or developed) to keep up with the requirements of this course? 
To me this a very rapid fire course in terms of the amount of assignments that are required.  For this reason to me having the ability to very organized and well time-managed are very important skills.  The behavior I guess I would have to say is determined.  You have to make yourself determined to finish the work and assignments.
2)      Tenaciousness is also about attitude. Talk about a moment or two when you felt like "giving up." What pulled you through? Do you feel like you've developed a tenacious attitude during the past two months? What experience or experiences most contributed to this?

I have never felt like “giving up” during this course.  That would not be a good description.  In all honestly I think annoyed or sometimes over whelmed would be a better way to describe, but never thought to give up.  That is not in my nature I would quit the course.  I feel that this course hasn’t developed a “tenacious” attitude it is more using the one that I have developed over time.  I think that being the age and having the experience I have has helped in this course.  I also think that I would have learned more when I was 19 or 20 and did not have the life experiences to fall back on.

3)      Three tips. What are three tips you would offer next semester's student about (1) fostering the skills that support tenacity and (2) developing the 'tenacious mindset'?

1.       I think that the most important skill is determination
2.       The only true way to develop is the mindset is to get up and do it.  Your work will improve as the course progresses but you have to let it work for you.
3.       To me organization is another important skill to have.  You have to find a way to make it all make sense and piece together instead of just one big mass of assignments.  For instance, I am very old fashioned in that I like seeing and writing on paper.  For this class, as with all of my courses, I print out a copy every assignment for every class and hang it on a wall and highlight the assignments as I complete them.  I do this because it is the best way I have found to stay organized.

    I think you did a great job with this post and I really appreciate your honesty in regards to the way that you were "impacted" by the course. I agree that I never felt that I was going to quit or give up because, a) it's also not in my nature, and b) while the work load is heavy, it's not difficult. Your tips for people taking this class next semester were very reasonable and will definitely help new students adjust to the workload and "fast pace" of this course!

  2. Hi William,

    I think that you did a great job with this assignment. I agree that time management and being resourceful in that area can definitely impact your success in this course quite a bit. I think that these are very important areas to focus on in general, as they can help you find success in all areas of life.

    Unfortunately I still need to work on that, as I wasn't able to complete this assignment in time so I can't post it :(
