I do not know if anything stood or jumped out at me in this
reading. I have been in customer service
and sales are for 10+ years now and even in that time it has changed a
lot. The fact that demographic marketing
is not as effective is not a surprise to me, but it is still taught in sales
and I feel that understanding the differences and types of demographics is
important as well as the history of that demographic. One question I would ask is if the increase
in technology and social media is one of the main reasons marketing has changed
so much? I would also want to know if
the author thinks that the market will eventually go back to how it started, as
far as marketing to specific demographics.
I do not have anything that I flat out disagree with in this
article. Marketing is something that is
interesting to me and I have only really seen it from the sales side, I would
be interested in learning more about how is works in the development of ideas
and campaigns.
