I love the five most common questions on page 233. This and the chart on page 232 I think give
some of the most clear cut advice in the chapter and maybe in the book so
far. I complete understand and agree
that those questions must have decisive, direct, and clear cut answers for a
lender. Something that I would ask the
author is, what is the most productive way to gain revenue from an IPO? Another questions would be about finding one
of the types of Angel Investors. Would
they hear about your business venture and find you or do you have to track them
down, and if so how would you begin to look for them? I think something that may be confusing to me
is with all of the options available to try and obtain lending from, which one
is the best for a particular business?
Is all based on the size of the business you want to start or do you just
try and get money from anywhere that you can?
I did not find anything that I disagree with. I do not know a lot about investments and
that would be an area I would have to improve in or get a partner that knows
that area very well.

Half-way Reflection
1)
Tenaciousness is a
skill. What are the behaviors that you have used (or
developed) to keep up with the requirements of this course?
To me this a very rapid fire course
in terms of the amount of assignments that are required. For this reason to me having the ability to
very organized and well time-managed are very important skills. The behavior I guess I would have to say is
determined. You have to make yourself
determined to finish the work and assignments.
2)
Tenaciousness is also about
attitude. Talk about a moment or two when you felt like
"giving up." What pulled you through? Do you feel like you've
developed a tenacious attitude during the past two months? What experience or
experiences most contributed to this?
I have never felt like “giving up” during this course. That would not be a good description. In all honestly I think annoyed or sometimes
over whelmed would be a better way to describe, but never thought to give
up. That is not in my nature I would
quit the course. I feel that this course
hasn’t developed a “tenacious” attitude it is more using the one that I have
developed over time. I think that being
the age and having the experience I have has helped in this course. I also think that I would have learned more
when I was 19 or 20 and did not have the life experiences to fall back on.
3)
Three tips. What
are three tips you would offer next semester's student about (1) fostering the
skills that support tenacity and (2) developing the 'tenacious mindset'?
1. I
think that the most important skill is determination
2. The
only true way to develop is the mindset is to get up and do it. Your work will improve as the course
progresses but you have to let it work for you.
3.
To me organization is another important skill to have. You have to find a way to make it all make
sense and piece together instead of just one big mass of assignments. For instance, I am very old fashioned in that
I like seeing and writing on paper. For
this class, as with all of my courses, I print out a copy every assignment for
every class and hang it on a wall and highlight the assignments as I complete
them. I do this because it
is the best way I have found to stay organized.

Week 7 Reading Reflection
I do not know if anything stood or jumped out at me in this
reading. I have been in customer service
and sales are for 10+ years now and even in that time it has changed a
lot. The fact that demographic marketing
is not as effective is not a surprise to me, but it is still taught in sales
and I feel that understanding the differences and types of demographics is
important as well as the history of that demographic. One question I would ask is if the increase
in technology and social media is one of the main reasons marketing has changed
so much? I would also want to know if
the author thinks that the market will eventually go back to how it started, as
far as marketing to specific demographics.
I do not have anything that I flat out disagree with in this
article. Marketing is something that is
interesting to me and I have only really seen it from the sales side, I would
be interested in learning more about how is works in the development of ideas
and campaigns.
