Week 14 Reading Reflection

I agree that in today’s world corporate entrepreneurship is becoming overwhelmingly needed.  I know from experience and have seen firsthand how the advancements in technology and internet have changed the car business and if the company change and try to keep up they do fall so far behind that eventually they have to close their doors.  One thing that I would ask is, is it better to try and find someone from within your company for new ideas or is hiring an outside company to come in and consult a better option?  As a company tries to evolve with the times and uses corporate entrepreneurship, how does an employer keep their staff motivated and all working towards the same goal?  While I do think that looking out for the environment is important, I do not think that it needs to be a top priority for all companies.  I would not consider these chapters confusing so much as needing to understand what is now required to advance and move forward in the world today.  While moving forward and progressing is needed, I feel that understanding what strategies to use and move forward with are very difficult decisions and making the wrong choice has greater effects on company than it did in the past.

Google Gold

This is a very difficult assignment for me, because I do not understand what the SEO is or how it is set up.  I know that when using the keyword “wjkms” in the search box on google my blog pulls up on page 4 of the google search results.  I really cannot say that I made any additional efforts to promote my blog on google.  I did not use it on social media, mostly because I really do not use social much.  I have a facebook that I barely up if at all.  Most of the time it is something that my wife puts on there or tells me to.  I do not have any other social media accounts, because I would not use them either.  Before taking this class I had no idea how to create a blog.  Trying new things and learning new internet uses may very well be the biggest thing I take away from this class.  That is meaning anything negative to the class what so ever I think that it is a very good class, I am just so far behind the rest of the world when it comes to what technology can do and how to use it.  I would my most viral post would be “World’s Biggest Problems” from Week 3.  I do not know why but it received 20 views according to the view counter and that was higher than any of the others.  I thought that “Celebrating Failure” was one of my best posts and enjoyed writing that one the most.  The reason I think this is because while the post overall was light hearted talking about March Madness and the tournament, I feel that I made important points to carry with a person throughout life.

Very Short Interview, Part 2

I think that with the first interview looking back on it that he made some good points.  I understand what he means by always striving for more and never being satisfied.  I can see that putting in a little extra fight will help be more successful in the long run.
With this interview I asked questions that I feel will be most helpful moving forward and looking to the future.
Question 1: What, do you feel, is the most effective means to obtaining customer feedback?
Answer 1: He answered very direct and decisively surveys via email.  This process helps get a large amount of survey out to many customers at once and stands a good chance of getting accurate feedback, because the customers are more relaxed not being face to face with someone.
Question 2: What is the next step for you or how does your business grow from where you are now?
Answer 2: This question got him to pause for a minute and really think.  He settled on streamlining and improving overall production at the current store.  They recently, in the last few years, added other stores to different cities and right want to focus on getting optimum productions on what they currently have.
Question 3: What does he consider to be the best way to gain customer retention?
Answer 3: With this answer he said that it starts with honesty and not just excellent, but consistent customer service.  This part is what caught my attention.  Anyone can have a good day where you deliver excellent customer, but it is the ability to do it consistently and every time that keeps bringing the customer back for more.
I did feel more comfortable with what questions I wanted to ask.  Being that I work with him every day I was very comfortable interviewing him.  This is also something that I have spoken with him about during the semester.  My level of comfort in speaking with him was obviously very high.  My level of comfort with the types of questions and the ability to know why I was asking the questions is what stood out to me of how I had grown in the class.
