As I go through my day I notice most of the time it is the little things that bug me.
1. I was at the mall and I was looking at a set of sheets, CariLoha Bamboo strongly recommend makes cotton feel like sand paper, and clerk did not acknowledge my presence at the store. A simple "Hi." is all I needed.
WHY? I think because, sometimes people feel that not all customers are important.
2. Not getting a courtesy wave when letting someone walk in front of your car in a parking lot. I would give a particular store but it seems to happen everywhere.
WHY? People are rude and self-absorbed.
3. Ordering a Publix sub online and it was not ready at the promise time.
WHY? Had an unexpected rush and didn't properly time out orders.
4. Had a customer show up over a hour early for their appointment and demand that they get served before the people in front of them
WHY? People typically don't care how others are affected as long they aren't.
5. At work when people spend more time trying to figure who made a mistake then it would take to correct it.
WHY? People seem to like to pass responsibility off on others.
6. When people do not own a mistake they made.
WHY? People do not like to admit when they are or have done something wrong.
7. At work when a new process is made based on nothing other than someone thinks it will be better.
WHY? Sometimes managers feel they need to do things just because they can or have convinced themselves it is better
8. Driving down the interstate and seeing a motorcycle going 100mph and weaving in out of lanes and then having to hear how drivers in cars need to be more careful of people on motorcylces
WHY? People on motorcycles tend to get hurt more than the driver of the car so we don't want to blame them even it is their fault.
9. Coming home from the grocery and find that the bread has been placed in the same bag with a box of crackers and my bread is now crushed.
Why? Either the bagger doesn't care or didn't think it all the way through.
10. I get annoyed with everything having to been done on electronically now. Sounds funny coming from an online course.
WHY? I think that people start to believe that just because something is faster that also means it is better.
11. Social Media
WHY? Not everyone needs a voice. Yes this is incredibly rude and condescending, but deep down everyone knows not everyone needs to be heard.
12. Text talk or text spelling; why do we have to abbreviate everything nowadays.
WHY? Speed of electronics is making people lazier.
13. When people feel they need to add their opinion into every conversation they come inject themselves into the middle of it when it has nothing to do with anything about them.
WHY? People like to feel to like they know everything or are so self-absorbed that they feel everyone wants to hear their thoughts on all topics.
14. Reality TV Shows
WHY? People like getting involved with other peoples "drama"
15. When someone is being two faced. IF you have a problem just say it, get it out there and deal with it.
WHY? People would rather lie to your face and step up and deal with the possible confrontation.
16. How people feel they should be compensated for everything, what ever happened to doing a favor?
WHY? I don't know this one, apparently it isn't okay to just be nice anymore.
17. That everything seems to be offensive all of the sudden, such as the Washington Redskins name.
WHY? In my opinion see number 11 above.
18. When I order a Pepsi at a restaurant and the server asks if Coke is okay.
WHY? They are trying to be polite but word it differently. Say I'm sorry we don't serve Pepsi we have Coke products.
19. At work in the break room when someone has the last cup of coffee in the pot but doesn't put another one on.
WHY? Lazy and they don't care, they got their cup.
20. When people try to make small talk for no other reason than to just talk.
WHY? People typically feel uncomfortable with silence so they feel that it is needed to have a conversation at all times.
Coming up with this list was a little harder then I originally thought it would be. I find that a lot of things annoy me, but I have thought to just ignore it and not let it ruin my day, or at least bury deep enough to where I don't care. I also know that my reasons for why some of these things bug me is because of people, but I feel that the type of work I have been doing over the past 10 years has really jaded and skewed how I view the world.
I enjoyed reading your "bug list" and found that these are also things that tend to bug me as well. Just as you mentioned, I found that coming up with the list was much harder than I expected it to be. I feel as though that's because it's much harder to complain about things when they aren't happening at that exact moment. Feel free to check out my "bug list:" http://scp1995.blogspot.com/2016/01/bug-list.html
ReplyDeleteI related to most everything in your "bug list." You pointed out most all the mundane minor problems in today's society. I used to work in the food industry and I really related to the point you made on appointments. When I worked, when we would close a 10 and people would try to get seated right at 10:00PM. We would have to explain why we can't serve them even though we were "technically" closed at 10. Rude and inconsiderate people are probably my biggest pet peeve. Feel free to check out my bug list
